This week we added developer settings, new links to ExpressionEngine Answers (EE Stack Exchange) on the homepage, and 11 new add-ons.

Developer Settings and Editing Your Own "Storefront"

We took some steps towards making your developer page more useful, and more "yours". If you're a developer, you will notice a few new things when you're logged in. First, at the top of the site you'l see convenient links to your Sales Reports, Developer Settings, and your Developer Storefront.

The Storefront is your main public page. For example, in the case of Low (2012's Developer of the Year), his page is here. On that page you'll now see a yellow "Edit" box, similar to the box you see on your add-on pages. This takes you to your Developer Settings. If you are a developer who is able to sell items you will see settings here for you sales report defaults, and every developer can now edit the links that appear on their page (support links, Twitter, your site, etc.) We'll eventually move the developer-specific settings that are currently found in the "Edit Your Profile" page over to the Developer Settings, including your add-on sales email settings, and other settings related to sales.

ExpressionEngine Answers Stack Exchange

We're fans of the ExpressionEngine Stack Exchange (that is currently in beta), so we added a new link to the EE Answers site from the hero area of the homepage. We pull in one of the currently unanswered questions in the hopes that a user visiting devot:ee might know the answer. We hope this helps draw attention to the site and helps get more questions answered.

New Add-ons This Week

Busy week, with ten new add-ons!

  • JSON Encode by Noble Studios
Provides proper JSON encoding using a template tag.
  • VL CP Logger by Viget Labs
This extension just logs more stuff to control panel log (Tools > Logs > Control Panel Log).
  • Scrub ($) by iain
Scrub intercepts incoming channel data and lets you run a number of filters to make sure it's how you want it.
  • Text Snippets ($) by Exotic Objects
Text Snippets allow you to expose text in templates as editable areas to content managers - right in the page! This is extremely helpful for editing one-off content that does not come from a Channel Entry.
  • UserPhone ($) by Yuri Salimovskiy (IntoEEtive)
This module allows you to request site members to enter their phones and validate them via SMS (by asking users to enter the code they've received in SMS). When phone is verified, the user can be moved to another group.
  • Structure Search by dgrebb
I wrote this because certain sites have so many pages, some even with the same names, it's hard to keep track of where they are in Structure. Enabling the extension will add a search bar to the top-left area of the Structure tree view. This filters Structure entries as you type.
  • Obtuse by Isaac Raway (Airways)
Obtuse finds all email addresses in a block of markup and turns them into obfuscated javascript links.
  • Noble Mobile by Noble Studios
Allows a separate group of templates to be loaded when your site is being accessed by a mobile device.
  • Characteers by Dennis Bruijn
Characteers lets you use accented or rare characters in an easy way.
  • Context Ads ($) by Yuri Salimovskiy (IntoEEtive)
Stop messing with lengthy javascript code - use single EE tag to automatically display a banner depending on what entry, category or channel is viewed.
