Add-On Type(s)

Fieldtype, Module

Adds the ability to create custom fields designed to store URLs, with the addition of ajax URL validation. Supports Grid and Low Variables.

VZ URL displays a textbox where the user can enter a url. When the user leaves the field, it will ping the URL they entered and display an error message if it doesn’t find a valid webpage there.

Please note that VZ URL will not prevent the user from saving their entry if if cannot validate the URL—it just warns them. This is intentional, perhaps they are linking to a page they have not yet created, or the site they are linking to is currently down but they know that the URL is correct.

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.

An excellent add-on and one that will likely become part of your default install once you start using it.

Genuinely great. Used along side Wygwam for in-post links this is about as complete a solution for forcing URLS as you’d need. Perfect.

The smallest, and simplest, and best add on for EE.  First extension I install on every project.

How on earth did I miss this gem? The number of clients who forget ‘http://” at the start of a url.

This little beauty solves it in one swoop.

Simple and marvellous.

Great little add-on which I use on every site. Top notch support too which I don’t expect from free add-ons. Many thanks to Eli for all his work on this.
