Establishing interesting and useful relationships within the content on a website is a powerful method of retaining visitors and bringing them back. The EEHarbor Tag add-on is an intuitive relationship tool. It lets you freely apply relevant tags to entries on your site. You can then display in your templates the relationships that emerge within this data to improve your visitors' experience. Relationships develop over time, naturally, intuitively. Tag brings this natural progression to your website.

You can then display in your templates the relationships that emerge within this data to improve your visitors’ experience. Relationships develop over time, naturally, intuitively. Tag brings this natural progression to your website.

Tag also allows your users to view lists of entries that contain specific tag(s), or while viewing a specific entry, see other entries that are related by use of the same tag(s). These related entries can be ranked by most tag matches. You can also display a list or a weighted “cloud” of tags that exist for your site.

Tags can be created/selected in the Publish page of the control panel while creating or editing an entry. They can also be added to entries via Channel Form. Since it’s a field type, you can have as many Tag fields (and groups) as you wish.

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.

  2. delete_entries_start
  3. gallery_cp_entry_form_add_row
  4. gallery_cp_insert_entry_end
  5. gallery_cp_update_entry_end
  6. publish_form_new_tabs
  7. publish_form_new_tabs_block

I’ve tried all tagging modules available for EE, and I keep returning to Tag if I can put it in the client’s budget. It’s the smoothest interface of all of them (ie. looks/feels like a native EE fields). I once made a large site where I practically built the nav around powerful Tag template tags.

It gives a new perspective once it starts relating contents + tags. I’m wondering it it’s true that tagging affects SEO, if it does, too bad ‘cause it improves usability so much!

Tag by Solspace is a well thought out, easy to use, and feature packed module. I directly compared this to Tagger and I have to say Solspace’s latest version of Tag is hands down the best module for the job when it comes to tagging EE2 entries. I’ll be using it exclusively from here on out.

Why this isn’t built into the CMS is beyond me, but Solspace has done a great job making it worth paying extra for, especially with the tag suggestion feature.  Clients love it, and it’s easy to implement.
