Table of Contents Pro generates a nested unordered list of jump links to specified headings in your WYSIWYG field's output. You specify the tags and the number of heading levels to include.
Table of Contents Pro is an upgrade to Table of Contents. Please try Table of Contents first to ensure your server has libxml support included in your PHP build. Please do not purchase this add-on if you have not verified that.
Table of Contents allows you to pass XHTML output from a WYSIWYG field into its tag, and get back:
- A set of jump links in an unordered list
- Updated HTML with ID attributes on the heading tags that correspond to those links
Usage:
{exp:toc heading="h2" class="toc" depth="2"}{tag output containing HTML}{/exp:toc}
{exp:toc:article}{tag output containing HTML}{/exp:toc:article}The Pro version adds support for:
- Overriding the base UL’s class
- Specifying depth, for nested output of different heading levels
Please try Table of Contents first to ensure your server has libxml support included in your PHP build. Please do not purchase this add-on if you have not verified that.
Tested in ExpressionEngine 2.5.5, Build 20121220, using Wygwam as editor. If you have any compatibility concerns, please try the free Table of Contents plugin first.

Folks, this just works and works great! If you need nested table of contents functionality, this is $10 well spent. Also, I libxml is part of the basic PHP install, but I had to have it reinstalled—an easy process.
