We have a site that is loading a listing of Vimeo embeds (12 per page, paginated) and it takes FOREVER to load. We have turned on template caching and that helps considerable, but that as prevents pagination. Any ideas why performance is so slow? Is it Vimeo’s API? Or is this plugin not designed to server large listings of videos?

The slow performance is due to the video checks we are performing in order to define if the video still exists or not. These checks are done each time you use a video, for each video which is why you can get some very slow performance.
With the great feedback from Hybrid Design, we’ve found a workaround for this issue. We’re currently testing this new release and we will be posting it as soon as possible.
