Are there plans for an EE3 update for Single Entry?

The subject line of this post says it all, really. Is there going to be an EE3 version of this wonderful add-on?

Yup, hoping to look into addressing this soon!

Looks like we have to wait for EllisLab in order to finish updating this for EE3, as the cp_menu_array hook was removed in EE3.

Thanks for the update guys. A lot of devs seems to be waiting for EE 3.1 (with its raft of advertised developer hooks) in order to migrate their add-ons. Do you know that version will give you what you need?

Any update on this? Cheers.

Unfortunately the cp_menu_array hook still has not been added…

Thanks for the reply - keeping an eye out!

That extension hook will not be returning to ExpressionEngine in the form it existed in v2, as open-ended top-level nav resulted in poor user experiences. Is there a reason it’s required for this add-on to be updated? Let us know in the Developer Preview forums if you like or an email at team@ellislab.com and we can help you bring this add-on to v3. We get requests for it from time to time.

The hook was critical to move Single Entries out of the Publish menu so that a user wouldn’t publish more than one.

Modification of the Publish menu aside: does the add-on use the Publish page extensions to ensure that doesn’t occur? It could even redirect to the solo entry with an informative message to the user that they’re editing a special entry, or whatever nomenclature that you’re using.

No, the only hook used was the cp_menu_array hook to separate the Single Entries from the normal channels.

Ok gotcha. We’d be happy to look the implementation over and offer recommendations. Drop us a line or you could add us to your GitHub repo if you maintain the project there.

Has there been any progress since EllisLab got involved?

We never heard from the developer, but had many people requesting similar functionality, so ExpressionEngine 3.4.0 will have the ability to limit the number of entries a channel can accept. :)

Did ExpressionEngine get the option to limit a channel to 1 entry? I’ve installed EE 3.5.3 but I can’t see this option.

Yes, when you are creating or editing your channel you can set the “Maximum number of entries”.
