{sub_total} with two decimals

Hello,
How can I force {sub_total} to display two number after the decimal point?
It currently defaults to none if there are no pennies or cents ($40).
If I specify $40.50 in the SCM, {sub_total} spits out $40.5.
I want $40.00 or $40.50, no matter what.
