This doesn’t seem to be working, any idea why? I assume it has something to do with the php parsing order?
{exp:math formula="[1] - [2]" absolute="yes" params="<?php echo $counter; ?>|{embed:inventory}"}
I have tried “parse=inward” and setting the php parsing stage on the template to input, which usually does the trick, but no such luck.

What is your PHP Parsing Stage set to on that template? It would need to be Input vs Output for this to have a chance at working.
