Setting quality for retina vs regular

Support Request

Hi there, I’m trying to use img-resizer to create retina/non-retina versions of photos.  However, it seems you can only specify a single quality for both sizes.

The problem I’m having is that with retina images, I need to be able to set the quality very low to reduce the file size (low quality doesn’t make a noticeable difference for retina images).  However, for “regular” size images, I need to be able to set the quality a little higher, otherwise they look a little blurry.

With there only being a single setting for quality, you either have to go with a higher quality, which = huge file sizes, but the regular size image will look better.  Or, you have to go lower quality, which = smaller file sizes, but the regular photos are not very good.

Is there way to specify the quality separately?  If not, maybe a feature request :)

Thanks,
-Susan

It’s not possible to set different qualities currently. It shouldn’t be too hard to add an option for it though, I will try to take a look at it this week.

Hi Susan,

I’ve added a retina_quality parameter, you can set that to change the quality of the retina image. Otherwise it will use the quality setting just like before.

Let me know if you have any problems with it.
