I have slight problem with it and I will be extremely grateful if you could
point me in the right direction.
I have a menu as you already guessed :)
I would like to achieve this kind of result:
main menu—-> on top
If user clicks on one of the main items on menu all subcategories will be
displayed in div specified by me.
here is what I have done so far, but I can see parent. All I want to see is
subcategories.
Thank you so much!
TOP —-
<nav>
{exp:gwcode_catmenu cat_id="1|2|11|15|16|17" class="menu"} <a href="{path=">{cat_name}</a> {/exp:gwcode_catmenu} </nav>
<content></content>
Bottom ——
<div> {exp:gwcode_catmenu cat_url_title="{segment_2}" group_id="1" excl_cat_id="2|11|15|16|17" style="simple"} <a href="{path=">{cat_name}</a> {/exp:gwcode_catmenu} </div>

Hi Hercules,
For what you need, you may be better off with GWcode Categories.
It has more options and has been developed more thoroughly.
Look here for example on how to show child categories. You can use it in combination with
incl_self="no"
to not show the parent category.
I hope that helps!
