HI
I purchased Firemail because it said it was better than EE’s communicate, but it has some features missing.,
Firstly, how would I add an attachment? I can do that in EE’s communicate.
Secondly, how can we configure each email to send to either those who have accepted to receive email or not? Seems Firemail has a global setting, but EE communicate is on a per email basis which is what we need. Some emails will go to members whether they accepted or not (important account information) and some will go to those who have stated to accept email (general newsletters).
Thanks a lot

you can’t add attachments as such but you can link to any file you have uploaded to your site which is a much better solution as it makes for much smaller emails (good for mass mails) and allows you to track downloads.
FireMail has a global setting only. in the case of requiring it on a per email basis, i would recommend switching to the setting you need before sending out an email.
hope this helps!

Well I am not sure… we are likely to continue to use a third party system we have. Its a bit disappointing Firemail claims to improve email sending and that EE’s emailing is lacking in features. In fact some things are improved, but other things like the above are worse. So in fact we would be using a combination of EE’s and Firemails which is not right. So may stay with Interspire Email Marketer and request a refund. I will know next week, waiting for the customer to comment on these issues.
Do you undertake development of Firemail often, will we see improvements?
Thanks

you are welcome to request a refund if you decide not to go with FireMail. it sounds like you have quite specific needs so i understand if it doesn’t fulfil all of them. FireMail is still in development but neither of the requirements you have are things that we would consider adding at present.

Ok, but they are not specific needs, but actually either standard or easy to implement in all the other systems I have used. It looks like Firemail is quite basic thats all.

fair enough, all i’ll say is that we try to keep the add-on lightweight and usable so that affects most of our strategic decisions.
