Dear Ben,
First of all, thanks for developing FireMail! I just implemented it for the second time and sent out a mailing with 6000 recipients (via SendGrid, as you recommend) on behalf of my client without a glitch.
I have one issue, though: You have repeatedly advocated not using a <head> section for HTML emails (as seen in various posts of yours here), and FireMail only supports it somewhat hackishly (by selecting «Source Code» in the Preview pane before hitting the button to import an EE template).
Indeed, your recommendation has had it’s merits, but I see the wind turning towards the standardista community. Although a substantial amount of mail clients ignore it completely, both MailChimp and CampaignMonitor recommend using a head element, as well as a handful of initiatives like the HTML Email Boilerplate.
I sincerely hope you’re continuing to offer the option of sending out a head section as described, and – as the continued requests by forward-thinking clients here suggest – I am not alone in hoping to see this implemented it as a supported feature.
That said, there is a little bug with the clicked link statistics if you do use a head section, and have a link element in it (i.e., external style sheet, like for embeding google fonts*): Each loaded ressource counts toward the click-through rate, and results in fantastic click-through rates. I suggest you exclude all links in the head section for link substitution and tracking.
Sorry for the long post — keep up the great work!
Kind regards,
Dominik
