How to uninstall Expresso so I can upgrade to EE6?

Is it possible to reassign the expresso fields to standard EE text field and then completely uninstall expresso, so I can upgrade? I’ve tried in the field manager and it breaks my layouts. I’m thinking the best thing to do would be to get expresso off my site completely and use Wyvern instead. Hope ypppu can help.

Expresso saves content in HTML format, so switching the field to either a text field or to a Wyvern field directly should work. Be sure to do this before uninstalling Expresso to ensure that no data is lost. Make a database backup too first.
