Is there a character limit? If so, can it be removed?
I’m adding a lot of text in an Expresso field and they are reporting that the text is getting cut off.
Thanks.

Hello. Circling back to this. I changed the table in the database to LONGTEXT which helped, but when pasting in very long text (which I know not to be hitting the max characters for LONGTEXT), when I hit submit I get sent to my 404 error page.
Any thoughts on why this might be occurring? Is there anything with EE or Expresso that would choke on large amounts of text regardless of the database field size?

I’ve seen some managed and some shared hosting plans that will force an error if a submission contains more text than they allow. I guess the reason might be that they flag very large submissions as spam. But that’s just an idea.
To eliminate whether EE or Expresso is at fault, can you test with a regular text field and see if you get the same error?

I tested it with a rich text editor field and got the same error, so it’s obviously not Expresso that is at fault.
I take it I’m just out of luck with this one?

It’s a managed VPS.

In that case your VPS host should be able to help explain why some POST requests are resulting in that error.

OK. I’ll contact them and see what they say. Thanks for the help!

You were right. It was on the hosting side of things. ModSecurity was blocking it, so they fixed it.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
