Expresso as a custom Category field?

Is it even possible to make it so Expresso can be used as a custom category field? I seem to recall DevDemon’s ‘Editor’ could do it back in the days of EE2, but I don’t know what the restrictions are.

I believe category fields are restricted to what EE natively provides. DevDemon likely used a hook that was removed as of EE3, but we’ll look into whether a workaround is possible, though I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

As far as we can tell, this is not possible as of EE3.
