It would be an excellent feature if we could have a ‘Read More’ separator like Wordpress has. I understand that wygwam has this feature. (site editors would love this as a feature)
My thoughts are the expresso field would contain the user typed text of _READMORE_
We would have a new expresso tags of:
{fieldname:excerpt} (which returns only the text up to the read more separator)

hi john, thanks for submitting this feature request. in general i am not a fan of the readmore separator but will consider adding in a future release.

I’m a convert to the logic of them. I always used trunc_html in the past but many editors I work with now write different article teaser text to that which appears in the main article. The article separator route leads to a single entry field which speeds up the article creation process for them.
