Total entries within a Parent

I have a Parent category with multiple Child categories and each Child has entries. Is there a way to show the entries_total of all entries within the Parent, combined? (e.g. 82 entries, instead of 4 4 4 4 4 5 6 9 8 4 7 7 6 4 6 - which is the uncombined total for each Child).

Hi,
I released version 3.1 of Child Categories plugin. In it I added a new variable - {parent_category_entries_number}. It will output the number of categories posted into parent category.
Install the version 3.1 and tell me if something goes wrong.
