Browser language sniffing and the required php extension

I purchased the plugin to use the browser language detection so I could redirect users from the English to Chinese version of a site if they have their browser set to Chinese language. Unfortunately the extension “pecl_http” is not installed on the web hosting I’m using, and after an email to them, they won’t install it. Is there any other way to use this feature without the need for that PHP extension? I found some stuff here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3770513/detect-browser-language-in-php#answer-3770616, but that is all over my head and why I’m relying on someone else’s plugin :) Please let me know if I’m out of luck, thanks!

Hi,

Currently language detection works using “pecl_http” extension.

It would be not very complicated to make language detection possible without that extension being installed.
Please wait a couple of days until I release a new version of this add-on.

Any word on this Laisvunas? I’m going to have to return the plugin if this functionality can’t get updated. Thanks!

Hi,

I released version 2.3 of Browser Sniff add-on. Using this version the value of “browser_sniff_negotiated_language” variable will be outputted also without extension “pecl_http” being installed.
