What others are saying

Tags

The syntax is very easy to use, you have the option of using two ExpressionEngine tags to generate a pdf

{exp:pdf_press:save_to_pdf} : generates a link to download the template as a PDF and it has the following parameters:

{exp:pdf_press:parse_pdf}...{/exp:pdf_press:parse_pdf} :this tagpair will create a PDF file using whatever HTML & EE tags are inside the tagpair. This is useful for logged in member only pages.

Unicode

PDF Press does support Unicode through the DOMPDF library, however you will need to properly load a Unicode font. See the “PDF Press User Guide” for more information.

Images & Stylesheets

NEW: Now it¢ï¿½ï¿½s possible to add images & CSS in your PDF even if ¢ï¿½ï¿½allow_url_fopen¢ï¿½ï¿½ is disabled by your hosting provider! See the ¢ï¿½ï¿½Tips & Troubleshooting¢ï¿½ï¿½ section in the docs for the {exp:pdf_press:physical_path}tag and how you can use it for images & CSS stylesheets.

Expectations

Certain customers who have reviewed PDF Press negatively had the mistaken expectation that PDF Press can render a webpage to PDF exactly as its rendered in the browser. PDF Press is meant to offer designers and developers a simple tool to craft PDFs for EE templates (think of it more like a “print-friendly” view) at a very low cost (monthly HTML to PDF tools charge monthly and other HTML to PDF php components cost thousands of dollars). It will take effort on the part of the customer to craft the PDF to output in a way suitable for the PDF format.

Similarly, PDF Press does not support responsive frameworks such as Bootstrap or Foundation. I’m not sure why anyone would need responsive CSS for a paper-based document format but if you need that feature please find a different HTML to PDF product.

If you have any questions before you buy you can contact me on the forums. Thanks!
