Mountee allows you to access your ExpressionEngine templates as Finder files, so you can work uninterrupted in your favourite app - changing template attributes, creating re-usable template groups and more.

Use Your Favourite Tools
Everyone has their favourite Mac apps, so why be limited to creating templates in ExpressionEngine’s <textarea>? Mountee allows you to access your templates as Finder files, so you can work uninterrupted in your favourite app.
Work With Files & Folders
Creating a new template or template group is as easy as creating a new file or folder. Develop your own set of re-usable templates and groups, then simply drag them into your Mountee drive to kick-start your next project.
Snippets and Global Variables
Your site’s snippets and global variables are also loaded as files, so they can be created, edited and deleted without leaving your code editor.
Don’t Let The Control Panel Disrupt Your Workflow
Even with ExpressionEngine’s file syncing feature, creating files and changing file settings requires logging in and out repeatedly. With Mountee’s File Preferences panel you can control template attributes – like caching and PHP processing – directly from your editor app of choice.
Mountee Works Behind The Scenes
Mountee knows ExpressionEngine. When you save a template, Mountee will clear the cache and save a revision if necessary. If you drag a template from one site to another, PHP and caching settings transfer over seamlessly.

I’m delighted to see that Hop Studios have taken over Mountee and that it’s back in operation for EE2.8 and 2.9. The only reservation that I have is the new pricing model. Originally $59 for unlimited use, it’s now $39 + $29 per additional site. That feels like quite a price hike.

This module was a game changer… I Love it. But 3 Stars because of the recent lack of support. As another reviewer stated, the last version doesn’t work with EE 2.8+. I’ve contacted the developers several times with no response. Does anyone have an update or an alternative solution?

Please note current version 2.6.1(111) doe not work with EE 2.8+. The developers are aware of that and apparently are working on a solution.

The only thing that sucks about this, is the fact I did not find this app sooner. I was searching for something with syntax highlighting, with Mountee, I can use my fav text editor with my fav CMS. This is fabulous!

While there are occasionally connectivity issues and invisible failures while saving files, I would never work without Mountee.

Been using it for a while and love it. Got some excellent support from Padraig recently when it stopped working due to a problem with my MacFuse installation.

Super fast and convenient. I use it with Textmate and save everything as a Project. I find it especially useful for some sites I work on that are behind a VPN and can only FTP via LogMeIn.

Of all the features, what stands out humungously is: speed. Mountee loads projects into TextMate and saves files *so* much faster than my previous methods, ExpanDrive and then Transmit 4. Plus a single purchase of the app can be used for any number of sites, so it’s a must for pros.

I usually save templates as files but I’ve had need recently to use Mountee as I didn’t have FTP access outwith the network.
Works like a charm. Considering making it part of my workflow.

Great app for using with EE, really a no-brainer if you develop with EE on a regular basis. I use this with Espresso, and it just makes everything so much more streamlined when developing an EE site. A real must-have!! Could be a wee bit cheaper on price though ;)

Love, love, love this addon! So much easier than having to visit the Templates area to create a new template. This way I can create a template anytime, anywhere – even drag n drop files around.
I do wish it had a way to save multiple logins.

I love Mountee but I give it only 4 stars because it does not support OSX.5. MacFUSE, the technology behind Mountee works on Leopard just fine so why not support OSX.5 and higher?
