Location proximity search and result mapping using Google maps.

This add-on came from the necessity to place channel entries on a Google Map with the ability to do a proximity search based on the distance from a postal code. When entries are entered (or edited with blank lat and lng fields), they are geocoded via the Google Maps API.

The search method uses geocoded data (lat/lng) to calculate distance based on the submitted address search string and search radius. Result tags can be used to generate Google Map overlays with custom info window contents for locations found by the search. Submitted search strings are geolocated and cached for improved future searches.

Version 2.0 brings a lot more flexibility by utilizing EE’s channel:entries capabilities for parsing search results.
