Multi-Format Document Annotation Widget

This plugin integrates a Java version of the GroupDocs document annotation library into ExpressionEngine. The library allows end users to annotate PDF, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, TIFF, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP and over 50 other common document and image types online, straight on your ExpressionEngine website. Cross-Browser Compatibility
Documents embedded to your website for online annotation can be viewed and annotated using any standard web-browser, including Internet Explorer 8+, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Safari 5+. Users don’t need to download or install any office software or browser plugins.

Collaborative Annotation Sessions
Several users can review and annotate the same document simultaneously. During such collaborative annotation sessions, users can invite colleagues, partners or customers to review a document online, see each other’s annotations and comments, and reply to them in real time.

Native Microsoft Word and PDF Annotations
Annotations placed online on Microsoft Word or PDF files can then be saved in the source files for further offline review and editing. Likewise, PDF and Microsoft Word documents annotated offline can be imported to GroupDocs.Annotation for online review and annotation on your website.

Advanced Security Features
Source documents are not downloaded to end users’ machines during view/annotation sessions. GroupDocs.Annotation converts documents to web-compatible content (HTML/CSS/images) and then renders it in user browsers like a regular web-page. Combined with the in-built Digital Rights Management (DRM) features, this allows you to share documents in a “read-only” mode by disabling the print, download and text copy options for all or specific documents. And for an extra layer of security, you can add custom watermarks over the displayed documents, so that they are protected from screen-grabbing.

Installing the Plugin

Please note! This plugin requires the GroupDocs.Annotation for Java library to be installed on your server first. Please be aware that the library is not free. If you don’t have a license, but would like to test the annotation widget on your website, please feel free to download an evaluation copy of the library from the GroupDocs website. Alternatively, contact GroupDocs support for free 30-day license to be able to test the library without any evaluation restrictions.
