Display your Google Analytics stats on the control panel homepage, showing today's, yesterday's, and last month's stats in a sexually-attractive display.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Google deprecated v2.3 of its Analytics Data Export API in December 2011. Hence, this extension will stop properly returning data sometime after June 2012. At present there are no plans to update this extension for compatibility with the new API.

Google Analytics Panel displays quick stats for Today and Yesterday (visits, pageviews, average pageviews per visit, and average visit length), with increased stats for the past 31 days (visits, pageviews, average pageviews per visit, average visit length, bounce rate, percentage of new visits, top content and top referrers). The 31-day stats also include sparklines to visualize site activity. It’s all very pretty really.

Once installed and configured with your Google Analytics credentials, the Google Analytics panel will be available on the My Account -> Customize Control Panel -> Control Panel Homepage screen for each user, and can be set to display in either the left or right column, and ordered just like the default homepage panels.

Note: Google Analytics Panel requires PHP 5+ with OpenSSL and HTTPS cURL support.

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.

  1. control_panel_home_page_left_option
  2. control_panel_home_page_right_option
  3. myaccount_set_homepage_order
  4. myaccount_homepage_builder
  5. show_full_control_panel_end

Finally, something worth putting in a client’s control panel homepage.  It is the perfect thing to greet clients with when they log into their system, unless they really care what EllisLab is up to.

Currently there is no good Mac Dashboard widget for Google Analytics, and I recently stopped tracking with Mint on devot:ee (which has a nice widget).

This extension fills the void. It give me a great overview right from the CP, which I visit frequently every day anyway. Well done, Derek.

Now with full MSM support, this is a must have for a quick overview of website traffic. Each MSM site can have its own credentials and GA account settings. Group controls so you can hide and show stats depending on a users group. I would rate it 6 stars if I could.
