Event Helper takes the pain out of managing events channels by letting you use custom start and end date fields, automatically setting expiration dates, and more.

For each of your chosen “events” channels, Event Helper can:

  • Set the Expiration Date of your entry to 23:59 on the last day of your event
  • Clone your chosen custom Start Date field the entry date
  • Set your Start Date, End Date, and Entry Date times to midnight

Event Helper also includes it’s own date fieldtype, which provides a standard datepicker using your preferred date format, but with the time portion of the date removed. You can choose any native Date, Event Helper Date, or DropDate field as your Start Date and End Date fields for each “events” channel.

Event Helper has been tested on ExpressionEngine 2.2+, and is compatible with SafeCracker/Channel Form and MSM setups.

For the EE3-compatible version of EEvent Helper, you’ll want Event Helper.

NOTE: The EE1 version of Event Helper is no longer being updated, and does not include the Event Helper Date field type, nor does it have the option to not set the Expiration Date in your event channel entries.

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.

  1. submit_new_entry_start
  2. show_full_control_panel_end
  3. entry_submission_start
  4. channel_form_submit_entry_start

This add-on really helps make entering event dates and times easier for clients. It’s easy to implement & very solid. Plus support is *first class* even though this is a free add-on. When I ran into a minor bug, Derek had a fix out within a few hours - outstanding! Thanks Derek :)

This is a fantastic add on, especially if you’re using Safecracker and need to format the date a certain way on the front end. Make easy work of setting entry and expiration dates as well. Excellent add-on.

Used this on a couple of sites. It actually saved me a few trips to the query module.
