Add-On Type(s)

Ever need to apply an entries categories to other entries? Category Mirror. It's an ExpressionEngine 2.x extension that will take a parent entry's categories, and assign them to a set of children entries.

Category Mirror. It Mirrors Categories

That’s what Category Mirror does. Simply - it’s an ExpressionEngine 2.x extension that will take a parent entry’s categories, and assign them to a set of children entries.

Why Would I Want That?

Well - you may never actually want to do that. But on the odd occasion when it’s needed it’s really handy. This was built to handle the case where there is a ‘parent’ entry in one channel, that has multiple ‘child’ entries in another. ie. Take the example of a Course system with one ‘parent’ entry that holds the course information, then multiple ‘child’ entries for each specific instance of that class.

It’d be useful for those child entries to naturally inherit their parent’s categories without any additional work from in the CP to move all the categories over to each and every child entry. And that’s exactly what Category Mirror does.

For more details, and how the extension maps the Parents to the Children see the full documentation.

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.
