Blocks for ExpressionEngine makes creating rich content easy. You define the block types. Your editor takes those blocks, puts them together, and fills them with content.

Rich Content Made Easy

What does that mean? Two things.

First, it means that content editors – that’s what I call the people who enter content into the site – can create complex, structured content without knowing HTML or using hacks and workarounds. It means they can use the WYSIWYG when they want simple content, and add from a predefined list of blocks when they need something richer.

Second, it means that developers – that’s probably you – get to define these rich content types up front. It means you get to mark them up and style them the way you want. It means you never have to worry whether the content editors used the right markup.

So if you need to enable your content editors with the freedom and ability to create rich content, then Blocks is for you.

Blocks is solid, flexible, easy for clients to use, and easy to maintain and debug. It has COMPLETELY changed the way we build sites as it simplifies our channel fields and template logic considerably. We will never build another client site without it.

This is very useful for rich content entry. Easy to use in the control panel, and the template tags make sense. The only drawback: you can’t use a Matrix in a block. That would have been useful for “carousel” blocks, but there are tricks to get around this. Would definitely use again.

Blocks is an excellent alternative Content Elements & solves a lot of issues with CE.  The two main additions are compound blocks and re-usable block types (define once then use in multiple channels).
Support has been very good, & now with relationships support very powerful things are easy!

Blocks is a really great add-on and I found myself hoping someone would tackle the need for providing the functionality found within this module/fieldtype. Once the relationships fieldtype becomes compatible with Blocks, this will be one of the most powerful EE add-ons available today.
