An Expression Engine fieldtype that allows for regular expression validation of text inputs. An optional tooltip can be displayed when input does not match the pattern.

An Expression Engine fieldtype that allows for regular expression validation of text inputs. An optional tooltip can be displayed when input does not match the pattern.

Take a look at HTML5Pattern for a library of validation expressions you can use. If you need to create your own pattern, I recommend the HiFi RegExp Tool for quick and easy regular expression testing.

Compatibility

Compatible with Safecracker, Matrix, and Low Variables

Requires jQuery 1.4.2+ in the control panel. Formatting hints will not be displayed in IE 7 and below.

Installation

Download and unzip the extension. Upload the vz_regulator folder to /system/expressionengine/third_party. Enable it from the Fieldtypes control panel page.
