Have your clients ever asked you how to get the full URL to an entry? This add-on displays the full entry URL on the publish entry screen. Create patterns for each channel so that you have quick access to the entry url while you are publishing.

Installation

  1. Copy the “third_party/vl_entry_url” folder into the “third_party” folder in your ExpressionEngine installation (by default, this is located at “system/expressionengine/third_party”).
  2. Copy the “themes/vl_entry_url” folder into the “themes/third_party” folder in your ExpressionEngine installation (by default, this is located at “themes/third_party”).
  3. Log in to the control panel and navigate to Add-Ons -> Extensions.
  4. Click the “Install” link in the far right of the VL Entry URL row.
  5. Install both the extension and the accessory.

Configuration

  1. Open the VL Entry URL settings.
  2. Enter an entry URL pattern for each channel.
  3. You can use the special values:
    • {url_title}
    • {page_url} (EE native Pages module)
    • {month}
    • {day}
    • {year}
    • {structure_url} (Structure add-on)

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.
