The UG Module allows admins and/or users of your site to create, manage, and join User Groups. The Module is intended to provide similar functionality to the Groups we all know and love on Facebook, LinkedIn, MySpace, etc.
Traditional Member Groups in ExpressionEngine are meant for managing permissions and access, but are not designed to enable collaboration on the front-end. The User Groups module has been built from the ground up to enable registered members of your site to create and manage group info, join other people’s groups, and hold discussions within groups.
The User Groups Module allows you to manage and view your groups from the Control Panel, but the power of the module is on the front-end templates.
