Truncates HTML/Text after the specified number of characters.

This plugin is used for limiting text to a specified length. Much like the Character Limiter-Plugin that comes with ExpressionEngine.

The difference is, that TruncHTML is HTML-aware, so you can use it to shorten HTML-formatted text and keep the markup without being afraid of breaking it.

Unlike the standard limiter-plugins it does not count characters that belong to HTML-tags and does not cut-off in the middle of tags.

It’s a shame that I did not remember this add-on before rolling my own plugin to purify/filter HTML/Text input. This add-on really should be native to EE!

This should be native to EE. It just makes sense.

This should have been a 1st Party EE plugin from the start. But since it isn’t, good thing there is TruncHTML.

Perfect! Was struggling with Word Limiter and Character Limiter when dealing with HTML. Now it’s very simple thanks to TrucHTML. Inline parameters are great.

I too struggled with the limits of Word Limiter. The ending and inline parameters are handy flexible.

Switched to this add-on after using word-limiter. Word Limiter was stripping the ending HTML tag from my custom field. TrucHTML doesn’t and worked perfectly.
