Taxonomy is much more than just a navigation and breadcrumb building tool. Get information about a content item's position in a tree, it's parents, siblings, children and more. Building complex navigation structures through menus and content is a breeze.

Whether you use the pages module, native URLs, or manual URLs - Taxonomy is designed to fit into your workflow without taking over your EE install.

Build multiple navigation trees to limited or unlimited depths which comprise of any of the following types of links:

  • Build links in your tree which use regular template_group/url_title or template_group/template/url_title paths
  • Build links in your tree from entries using page uris from the EE Pages Module
  • Or enter a url override to build nodes in your tree that link to anywhere you like

Fetch entry_ids of content items which are parent, children or siblings to easily create content driven navigation for landing pages. Trees and entries are easily associated to each other through Taxonomy’s easy to use interface.

Taxonomy comes bundled with a Fieldtype which lets you add nodes to Taxonomy trees directly from the publish page - relate content directly with nodes which intelligently keep themselves up to date when page uris change, or templates are renamed.

Other features include

  • Choose which member groups have access on a per tree basis
  • Use node custom fields to give nodes any additional attributes you need - such as checkboxes, text inputs and text-areas.
  • Limit the maximum depth of nodes in your trees, on a per tree basis

This is an excellent add-on with excellent support from the author. It’s the perfect hybrid alternative to NavEE and Structure. The best of both worlds.

Elegant and essential. Easily my favourite of the site navigation / breadcrumb ee modules available.

Great tool and I love the fact that you can put HTML “before and after” with the build in tags. No need to style everything with <ul> <li> ... The only thing I miss is a checkbox on the client page with “exllude form nav” and defalut auto assigned links ... but is it is 5 star all day.

Taxonomy rocks, it’s part of every site I build regardless of the size. Great support too.

For websites big and small, Taxonomy is a must have module. It makes working with menus a breeze, and will save you code, time and client requests. Excellent module, and even better developer support!

Taxonomy integrates extremely well with the native Pages module to give you extensive control over your site’s dynamic menus without overriding any core functionality. It’s flexible, simple, efficient and has great docs. The developer is swift to address any support questions or feature requests.

Bought this add-on after reading reviews after reviews as well as docs for the different nav add-ons.

Excellent add-on. Extremely flexible option on how you display the menu and the levels to show.

If you are building for a client, this is a must for usability.

Excellent module…quite flexible with easy to use interface. The developer behind it is awesome too…went out of the way to fix my issue in left menu.

It works straight out of the box. And as intended. Very useful.

Coming from a WordPress background, I used to wish ExpressionEngine had a navigation solution similar to WP’s built-in menu functionality.

Now, when I work with WP, I wish WP Menus functioned more like Taxonomy.

Taxonomy has lots of potential. One issue i ran into while trying it out was customization. There wasn’t a way to output div tag to wrap around child menu items. Otherwise, it’s a simple and effective menu creation tool.

Love this add-on. I’m building my third site in a row with Taxonomy and I couldn’t be any happier. We had built an in-house module for EE 1.x that does something similar, but not as elegant or easy to use. Plus, Iain is as responsive as any developer I know. Easy 5 stars.

Awesome add-on.  I’m a big fan of modules helping you get done what you need to get done, without getting in the way and taking over.

I don’t use Structure on my sites, so I tried out this add-on to add the same sort of functionality at a small-scale. And it works beautifully. The developer is helpful and responsive. Taxonomy is super flexible and easy to use. It fills a hole in my EE dev.

I had been looking for a way for clients to build navigation in a more traditional sense for a while with EE and this module was something of a revelation for me. Simple to use, great looking interface, hugely flexible, can sit in a tab on the publish page and outputs great html. Just awesome!
