Saving record changes username to email

I ran Zoo Visitor on my test database, and when I go into a record and just click ‘Save’ without changing any fields, it changes my member’s username to their email address! First off, this is bad b/c the member didn’t know it happened. Second, I display their username on the page and now the world can see their email address.
This happens when I edit the Zoo Visitor record in the CP.
please advise

I think I found the issue. If “set username as email” is set to yes, then editing a record will change the username to the email address.
