I deleted the old (2.x) version of CP analytics. I ftp’d the new version to the third_party directory.
Now when I try to go to my control panel, I get this:
A Database Error Occurred Error Number: 1146
Table 'bp_coastsider.exp_cp_analytics' doesn't exist
SELECT profile FROM exp_cp_analytics WHERE site_id = 1
Filename: third_party/cp_analytics/models/cp_analytics_model.php
Line Number: 441
Things go back to normal when I delete the cp_analytics folder from third_party.

Hmm, sounds to me like the module was not installed. You say you were upgrading from 2.x - maybe you mean 1.x (the 1.x versions did not use a module or custom database table).
Try removing CP Analytics manually from your exp_accessories and exp_extensions tables, then upload the new version and try again.

Derek:
Thanks. That did it. I must have been mistaken about the version.
