SnippetsSync is a very basic extension that lets you save your global variables and snippets as files, keeping them in-sync during development and enabling you to use version control on the files.

v1.0.1 Now contains support for manual sync (button in the CP) + naming files with extension (.html).

Please note: syncing only goes from files to database, so you will need to create files for any pre-existing snippets.

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.

This was simple and worked the first time. I can now edit snippets and global variables in CODA with the rest of my template files. Bjorn is the man!

This plugin saves a lot of time if you work with templates as files. I like to use Dreamweaver to work with my templates, and it got to be a hassle switching between that (for templates) and the EE backend (for snippets and global vars). A real time saver and dead simple to use.

This is simple and it works.

1. It isn’t sync as much as it is “read from file into snippet”, but that’s what I needed.

2. Snippet files can’t have extensions; this may inhibit double-click to open.

3. Install is 2 folders; I wish it were 1.

Nice job!
