Overview

Project Cerberus is an antispam webservice specifically targeting ExpressionEngine member profile spam. It comprises two primary components: Cerberus Updater and Cerberus Guardian.

This project will (hopefully) demonstrate that concerted community involvement can significantly reduce the impact of spam on EE membership sites.

Cerberus Updater

This is an extension that hooks into the standard EE member banning process and encrypts some of that member data and sends it to a central database. For EE 1.x users, Updater works with Member Utilities.

Cerberus Guardian

This is an addon that enables interrogation of the central database during various member processes i.e. registration, login, forum post etc and then defined actions to be taken based on the response.

More information is available on the Project Cerberus website.

Hooks Used

If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.
