Tags

This ExpressionEngine plugin will resize any JPG GIF or PNG image to the desired size specified in your EE tag and cache the resized image to the cache folder. If you update the original image a new resized version will be created. If the image is not on the server the tag will not return anything. The general architecture of this plug-in is setup in a way that it only processes images when needed.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This plugin is more or less abandonware. Use it at your own risk. For the past few years, it’s been universally understood that CE Image is the go-to image manipulation add-on. - Ryan M.

Ok, Bradley, you saved my life. Your mod works indeed!

The forked version from Bradley Flood, below, works amazing on 2.9.2 whereas the old Lumis version(s) don’t, thanks Bradley!

I’ve forked Image Sizer and made some slight improvements here https://github.com/bradleyflood/imgsizer

Unfortunately this plugin is no longer available on the developer site. EE forum entries dating back several years suggest this was abandoned by developer long ago?

Excellent add-on. I was getting resized images larger than my uploaded image so I forked the code and added the ability to set manual quality param. (https://github.com/jeremyworboys/ed.imageresizer.ee2_addon)

I like this add on- seems to work well.
I had issues with external images (on CDN). Got “FILE_PUT_CONTENTS_ATOMIC_TEMP already defined” issue. I modified line 723-724:
if (defined(“FILE_PUT_CONTENTS_ATOMIC_TEMP”)==false){ define(“FILE_PUT_CONTENTS_ATOMIC_TEMP”, $save_dir);}
Did the trick!

Great plugin once a few issues are fixed. The quality parameter issue and base path issue are mentioned or fixed in this forum post:

In version 2.6.4 the quality parameter is not working. It’s fixed at 100 which results in heavy images.
However, it seems it can be fixed by commenting line 389.

@Luc Latulippe

The plugin is now hosted here on devot-ee.

See the download link below the main description. (I too went direct to the lumis website)

Um, the plugin’s site seems to be gone. It’s just David’s photo blog now.

Almost perfect, but it doesn’t offer a fallback image if none is found, which makes the alternatives (CE Image and ED Image Resizer) much more appealing.

My web hosting company solved the issue why the issue why this plugin suddenly stopped working. It relies on a PHP library to do the image resizing for it, it’s called edPHP or something like that. If it’s not installed on the server it won’t work.

If you need the specific details email me.

An useful comparisom of CE Image, ED Imageresizer and Image Sizer add ons you can find here: http://www.causingeffect.com/software/ee/ce_img#feature_comparison

This would have been a 5-star review but there’s a bad path issue in v2.5.4 for EE2.0 that’s not been resolved for over a year (nested directory paths in the cache folder that necessitate adding a path command to every instance). Otherwise this exposes the directory structure in the html.. :(

This will save you and your clients a massive amount of time.  It has a permanent slot in my default install.

Very useful, and saves the client from having to upload multiple versions of an image.  Indispensable when creating thumb previews for a jQuery slideshow.

So so useful. It’s one of the first ‘in the deck’ when I’m setting up EE.

This add-on is so essential I can only guess that it’s going to be “built-in” to EE at some point down the line. Definitely a must have for the majority of installs. Thank you Lumis!

A must-have plugin for every ExpressionEngine installation. There’s no need to waste bandwidth when you can serve your users with resized images that fit perfectly in your design.

One thing I would like to see is the ability to store sized images on Amazon S3. Other than that, it’s fantastic!

This is a truly magnificent plugin. I am not sure how I ever lived without it now that I’m using it on all of my EE powered sites. The best part is the price, a great tool and a must have for all EE sites.

This is absolutely superb and a must-have for all EE builds! Took about 1 minute to get up and running and there are a lot of options you can play with.  If I could give this 10 stars I would!

I feel this is essential on almost every build. Certainly one of the first plugins I install. Many options, and works great in many scenarios.

It does a great job of image manipulation and caching, and is updated fairly often. There isn’t much competition, other than phpThumb (which is non-EE).
