nGen File Field is a field type for the FieldFrame framework. It adds a custom field type allowing you to upload files from the Publish/Edit interface, and also functions as part of the FF Matrix. This extension is useful for creating galleries, download libraries, and much more.

Hooks Used
If the add-on is an extension, and ties into ExpressionEngine's core files, it will use ExpressionEngine hooks. We are listing any hooks the add-on uses for developers to have an easier time locating other add-ons that they can reference for their own work.

Some issues that caused me headaches in 1.0.1 have been fixed and this is much appreciated! A really useful fieldtype. Thanks!

I’ve been very impressed with the service and updates for this plugin. It’s free, but they support it very generously. My default file upload tool. Recent versions give more control over items that affect performance and client permissions.

I love using nGen File. There are a ton of applications of using this within the FieldFrame framework. My one gripe with it is that it’s a huge memory hog. Just make sure that you have control over your memory settings before installing.

As of 0.9.7, this is the best 3rd-party file management field, in my opinion. You can browse for new or previously uploaded files. When deleting you can just remove the reference or the actual file as well. And because it’s a FieldFrame fieldtype, it’s almost guaranteed to work without issue.
