This fieldtype adds html5 input types: text, url, email, number, tel and range; as well as the applicable attributes: placeholder, pattern, min/max/step, multiple, required, etc. On Sale.

Many of the features of this addon only work in browsers that natively support them, with the exceptions of the placeholder attribute & range field - which both have polyfills to work in all browsers, and the server-side validation for each field type.

Note:

This addon requires EE 2.4+

Installation:

To install html5 fields, download & open the zip file.

 
1. Copy system/expressionengine/third_party/html5_input to your sites system/expressionengine/third_party folder.
 
2. Copy themes/third_party/html5_inputs to your themes/third_party folder.
 
3. In your EE admin go to addons->fieldtypes and click install on the Html5 Input Fields.

Usage:

All fields have simple output in your templates. email, url, & tel fields also have an optional parameter “autolink”, which will automatically wrap the value in the applicable link(http, mailto, callto).

eg:

{my_url}
{my_url autolink=“yes”}

will output:

http://mylink.com
<a href=“http://mylink.com”>http://mylink.com</a>
