ExpressionEngine Twitter is nearly an identical port of EllisLabs Twitter Timeline plugin, via Bryant Hughes's TGL_Twitter. However ExpressionEngine Twitter has a CP Backend, allowing a user to authenticate with Twitter using oAuth. ExpressionEngine Twitter uses the Twitter 1.1 API, and provides tags that make it possible to conform to Twitter's Display Requirements.

Awesome, but missing a way to get the number of followers a user has. You can fix this by adding this function to the mod.twitter.php file: http://pastebin.com/QgzkB45F
Then you’ll be able to get the number of followers with the tag {exp:twitter:followers screen_name=“whatever”}

Works beautifully. Simple functionality, but very simple to set up and use. A perfect replacement for the previous Ellis Lab Twitter Timeline plugin that stopped working with Twitter API 1.1
