Better Workflow is an ExpressionEngine add-on from Electric Putty that adds inline preview, entry drafts and approval processes to the EE control panel.

With Better Workflow, you will be able to work on a ‘draft copy’ of a live entry, preview your changes and then ‘submit for approval’, all without effecting the live website. When the new content has been approved and published the ‘draft copy’ replaces the ‘entry’ and the live site is updated.

Requirements & Compatibility

Better Workflow is compatible and officially supported with EE 2.2.1+, and while earlier versions may work, you may experience strange behaviour in any version < EE 2.2.

I anticipated some messing to get this up and running but it immediately just worked seamlessly with my setup. Brilliant, brilliant add-on.  Another one which begs the question “why isn’t this native!?”

This is a great and long overdue add-on that clients will love. Allows pages to be edited and saved as drafts, previewed and submitted for approval before being published to the site.

It’s not perfect, but there’s a great development road map and the support from Electric Putty has been 1st class.
