*** UPDATE! This release includes Backup for both EE 2.0 and 1.6.x in one purchase! *** IMPORTANT: You MUST rename the folder to Backup when you choose an option, otherwise it won't work! The Backup module provides a manual backup system for ExpressionEngine 2 site administrators. Also included is a backup module for 1.6.x administrators! If your site admins/designers don't have access to phpMyAdmin (or you don't really think it's a good idea to give them access to it) then this module provides one-button backups directly in the Control Panel.

The Backup module allows ExpressionEngine site admins to easily and quickly click one button and generate a zipped SQL backup file for their entire database. This file is automatically stored on the server, and can be manually downloaded to a Mac or PC and then later stored in an off-site location, such as a Dropbox folder, FTP site, or other file repository.

The module itself keeps track of when site administrators make backups. Administrators also have the option of deleting backup files from the server. This version works only with ExpressionEngine 2.

A version for ExpressionEngine 1.6.x is also bundled with this release! The Backup module for ExpressionEngine 1.6.x will download files to your Mac or PC.

Installation Instructions

Both the 1.6.x and 2.x codebases are inside the ZIP. Choose the one you need for your installation. You will need to rename the folder to Backup once you’ve unzipped it. Failure to rename the folder will create installation problems!

I used this as a way to migrate a 1.6.9 site to a new server and had pretty miserable results.

The SQL file had missing ‘quotes’ for many values, which caused the import to break. Also lost all FF Matrix entries.

A regular MySQL backup worked perfectly.

Admittedly, I didn’t seek support.

Any chance for this add-on to be compatible with EE 1.x?
